RE: Installation Woes IDS 9.4

In Response To: RE: Installation Woes IDS 9.4 (allen.philip@wipro.com)

Allen,

I too came to DB2 and Informix from Oracle, Sybase
and SQL Server world. As a seasoned DBA and database
professional, we should presume that install and
config for each database is different.

Information to download and run code is fluid for
all the databases. If you want to be learning and
uptodate on a database, read some history and current
info about it always. For example, IDS 11 will be
released soon and you can do Linux download and play
with it. I still read about SQL Server 2005 SP1.

I do not know if Wipro has partner world id from IBM.
That way, you have access to most of the code from the
website. Please check on that at first. You may want
to call IBM for support. That would help you too.

Those are few of my thoughts.

Good Luck,

Sunil
