Dbexport/dbimport is the preferred method. HOWEVER, you MAY run into some
problems dbimporting due to index and constraint names that were defaulted on
the source database but were exported by dbexport as hard names and with some
object owner names which may clash with some defaulted names and with the user
running the import on the target server during the dbimport run. If that
happens you either have to edit the schema to remove these constraint names (you
will recognize them, they have a letter and two number separated by underscores
and include ALL the names of NOT NULL CONSTRAINTs) or get my dbschema
replacement utility, myschema, and run it with its -l dbimport compatibility
option and -O to remove object owner names and replace the dbexport schema with
the one myschema produces.

I don't understand. The inverse utility for a dbexport load is dbimport not
unload! Indeed, Informix does not deliver ANY utility named 'unload'. Are you
trying to run the schema manually then use the LOAD verb in dbaccess to reload
the data manually one table at a time? Why? If so you will run into the same
problems you MIGHT see running dbimport so see my notes above.

Hmm, perhaps a terminology problem? You UNLOAD a database to flat files the
LOAD the data files back into the database. Perhaps you are trying to use the
dbaccess UNLOAD verb when you should be using LOAD?
