Wow.. What an excellent piece of work in Cheetah. Well done team. I am sure, this type of info. would certainly helpful and handy to DBAs.
Thanks everyone for helping me.

Cheers.

John, I would expect to see the dskflush_per_sec to be calculated as:

n_dirty_buffs / flush_time =3D 6 / 0.021177158516 =3D 283.324129413623

Not 6! ??

There is allot more information in cheetah about checkpoints. The
most common information is in a table called syscheckpoints which
records information about the last 20 checkpoints.

In addition if you still want to get information out of the online log =
=3D
you
now can query sysonlinelog using matches and other SQL functions
to get want you want.

select first 1 * from syscheckpoint

intvl 200
type Non-Blocking
caller CKPTINTVL
clock_time 1186594954
crit_time 3.06655214e-05
flush_time 0.021177158516
cp_time 0.046485315566
n_dirty_buffs 6
plogs_per_sec 0
llogs_per_sec 0
dskflush_per_sec 6
ckpt_logid 10
ckpt_logpos 1688356
physused 5
logused 1
n_crit_waits 0
tot_crit_wait 0.00
longest_crit_wait 0.00
block_time 0.00

hope this helps,

That question I was leaving for some of the real tech wizards reading t=
=3D
his
group. :)

Until Cheetah comes out (it gathers some metrics but I don't know if th=

is
is
one of them) I believe you would need to perform a "tail -xxxx logfile"=
=3D
and

parse that information to get what you need ... but that would require =
=3D
read

access of the log file.

Take care.

Thanks Clifton. Apprecaited prompt response. Since, permission is not g=

Thanks.

It appears that my question was incorrectly phrased, in relation to fuz=
=3D
zy &

full checkpoint duration. Therefore, did not get any response. Let me t=
=3D
ry
again by rephasing my question:

OnLine logs have got info. about fuzzy and full checkpoints duration. T=
=3D
here

is
a permission issue with online log file at our site (permission 660
informix:informix). onstat -m can show only last 20 lines from online l=
=3D
ogs.

My
questions are:

1. How can I find fuzzy & full checkpoint duration since no read permis=
=3D
sion

on
online log file?
2. I am hoping changing permissions on online log file (say 664
informix:informix) is safe and does not require bouncing the engine. Is=
=3D

this

correct ?

Thanks.
