The values are already 2 and 1 (some line breaks come in between ...).

What I don't see is the LRU_MIN_DIRTY and LRU_MAX_DIRTY entries in the
config file. These will help a lot in reducing the checkpoint time as you
can control the amount of work being required at that point. I personally
run my OLTP at the following.

LRU_MAX_DIRTY 2
LRU_MIN_DIRTY 1

Hi,

Maybe you should reduce your checkpoint interval to 300 or less. This
leads
to more checkpoints, but these are shorter, which is better for a OLTP
system as the blocking time is minimized.
Since you have 7.31, there is no way to avoid the blocking times (in 9.x
or
10.x a fuzzy checkpoint will not block).

A checkpoint takes long, depending on the amount of data the checkpoint
flushes to the data areas.
E.g. a huge amount of data loaded in a single transaction or using HPL,
will
result in a long checkpoint after the load.

Also, there could be a bottleneck in IO, such as all the data has to be
written to a single device. Use iostat while a checkpoint is executed
and
find out if there is heavy activity on one of your disks.
In this case, consider striping your data to multiple disks.

Subject: Checkpoint taking more time [7892]

Hi

Im having IDS 7.31 in HP-UX 4440 .
Im having a problem with checkpoint taking lot of time when certain
processes are running.rest of the time its taking 0 seconds.
But sometimes its tabing 8,9,10 seconds How i can reduce the time taken
for
CKPT.
I read that LRU writes should be more than Chunk writes.
ours is a OLTP system so checkpoint taking more time is not affordable.
also chunkwrites are more than LRU writes in onstat -F

this is my setting in onconfig.
Pls suggest
