I dont think the listeners are on the wrong ip, but the requests come via
the other ip.
netstat -an | grep <ifxportno>
This should have a LISTEN line bound on the specific interface (not on *).
(services for all network interfaces show as *.service ...... LISTEN, bound
services show as IP.service .... LISTEN).
I don't think it is easily possible to bind the requesting program to a
specific interface in your environment. If the client does not support
shared memory access, I do not see any solution in your setup.
So, your choice to include the address in hosts.equiv is maybe the most
senseful approach.

Another approach I could think of is putting the virtual interface in a
totally different network. In this case, the client application should
directly reach the other interface (because the route points to it).

This is all not related to Informix, but IP routing.

Yes it will be a clustersolution (High Availaibliy) Our config is correct.
No DBSERVERALIASES. Only 1 line in SQLhosts Problem is informix starts on
another IP than hostname from SQLhosts.
Both IP on the same physical interface
The only solution I found out is to put that other IP in /etc/hosts.equiv
But I didn't know if it is a good idea for our cluster to work (HA/CMP) Why
would the informixs listeners work on the wrong IP ?

I think you can compare this to a clustersolution, where IDS starts on a
virtual IP-address And not on the address of the physical interface.

Please check sqlhosts, onconfig , hosts and services

Sqlhosts :

First field : must correspond with DBSERVERNAME entry in onconfig file
Second field : communication method (onsoctcp) Third field : the "virtual
hostname" , myserver in your case ? (if name used, must be present in hosts)
Fourth field : the service ( defined in /etc/services)

Are your variables INFORMIXSERVER and ONCONFIG correctly defined ?

If all is correctly defined, you may have problems with the routing (netstat
-r) I've had a problem before, when you connect to a virtual address, that
the physical address responds.

We want to migrate from IDS7.31 to IDS 10.00.FC3R1 on AIX5.3

For the future implementation of HA/CMP there are 2 ip addresses on the same
device :

- myserver_boot for the initial boot

- myserver is added as second address.

The hostname is "myserver."

When we initialize informix : oninit -i

we have an error on ''myserver_boot' whilst the sqlhosts file mentioned only
'myserver' :

(this error appears on starting the database, no one tries to connect)

12:02:45 listener-thread: err = -956: oserr = 4: errstr =
informix@myserver_boot: Client host or user informix@myserver_boot is not
trusted by the server. System error = 4.

We don't want that the listeners starts on myserver_boot !

Why the listeners wants to connect on ip.address that we didn't want to use
for it ?

Has someone experience with this ??
