Not sure I agree totally :-)
Even with one drive you will get some protection (from rootdbs
filling up) if you separate logical logs out and data.
Mirroring to the same drive is literally a waste of space, a
sense of security and a performance hit!.
Windows is already giving you the protection against drive loss
and the (minimal) read performance, why inflict four writes on
the system when onlty two are needed !!
