Hi

In addition to the named pipe workaround that was mentioned, you can al=
so
use symlinks.

Create an empty /home/backup_03 file
Set TAPEDEV to /home/tapedev_link, and have /home/tapedev_link point to=

/home/backup_03
Set TAPESIZE to a value that will calculate to less than 2GB
Perform the Level 0 backup
When it says tape is full, mount next tape, then just create another em=
pty
file (ie. /home/backup_03_a)
Then have /home/tapedev_link point to /home/backup_03_a
Then have ontape continue the backup.

Dear all,

We are running IDS 9.30.UC2 on Solaris 2.8. So far, perform backup to
/dev/rmt/0 is working fine. But, when we change to backup device to a
file we encountered the above problem.
Below are some of the info copy from our console.

Console>onstat -V
Informix Dynamic Server Version 9.30.UC2

Console>ontape -s
Please enter the level of archive to be performed (0, 1, or 2) 0

Please mount tape 1 on /home/backup_03 and press Return to continue ...=
