HDR has been in IDS since 7.10 and ER (then called CDR) was introduced in 7.20
IB. It is true that neither were completely stable and reliable prior to 7.31
;-) but they did exist much earlier.

Hi Kenneth -

U means 32-bit Unix, T means Windows, H means 32-bit HP-UX.
F means 64-bit.

The Cn and Dn are just fix pack numbering. We start numbering fixpacks at
C1 and continue sequentially and then go to D1 and continue. Fixpacks
contain bug fixes and there is no relationship between a UC2 fixpack to
9.40 and a UC2 fixpack to 9.30.

The number before the dot is the product identifier. IDS 7 is a relational
database management system. IDS 9 is an object relational database system.
The two numbers following the dots are the major and minor version numbers.
The differences between 9.40 and 9.30 are extensive enhancements in the

areas of performance (9.40 is substantially faster than 9.30), high
availability (ER and HDR can run together), scalability (chunks can be up
to 4TB each instead of 2GB) and extensive application development features.
There are a number of white papers regarding IDS 9.40 available on
IBM.com.

IDS 7.31 is a minor revision of IDS 7.30. It includes a number of
enhancements both are quite old so I don't remember what the exact

mentioned earlier there is no correlation between 7.30 UC5 and 7.31UD5.

When we introduce a release the first release is usually xC1 where the x
indicates the platform and/or word size (32 or 64-bit). 7.31UD5 is the

11th fixpack of IDS 7 version 31 32-bit (we only went to xC6 before moving
on to xD1) we are currently at xD8.

Can someone please explain to me informix version numbers. I am espica=
lly
interested in the meaning of C1, in for example UC1 and the differences=

between 9.30.UC2 and 9.40.UC3, or 7.30.UC5 and 7.31.UD5.
