Re: hdr not working

Hi,

James is right, when it comes back, Secondary will start picking up
logical logs from Primary.

This will work only as long as there hasn't been a logical log
wrap-around on the Primary. Once that has happened on Primary
while Secondary is down, Secondary can't get the logs it needs to
begin with from Primary, since they are only on tape (hopefully),
but have been overwritten on disk.

So that's the "point of no return" and in that case you have to
setup HDR anew with backup on Primary, restore on Secondary, etc.

Having said that it's pretty obvious that more and/or bigger logical logs
will extend the time frame for re-synchronisation ...

Hi James,
Thanks a lot. I re-started again the replication back to square one and it
worked. I just want to know, do I just need to turn the primary server to
standard mode while the secondary server is down? Am I going to let the
users go on with their normal data entry while in the standard mode, then
just switch back to primary server mode just like that? Will there be any
synchronization issue again?
