Thought that it might be the .infos.<INFORMIXSERVER> file being corrupt, but
that would likely mean you couldn't connect to the database in the first
place with a network connection.

When dbaccess connects successfully, are you using a shared memory
connection or a network connection?

If shared memory, what happens if you connect to dbaccess with
INFORMIXSERVER set to a network connection?

What about permissions on the oninit binary? Do they look like:

We have had a similar issue when these were not correct.
