HI,

I think I managed to get it run to some extent.... Some observations
and questions.

(1) mongodb shell response,

mongos> sh.addShard("leslie-dat:9171")
{ "ok" : 1, "name" : "g_ncdcopsjson_tcp" }
mongos>

The above output is Success, correct ?

(2) Online log of both local and remote sites,

Local log,
15:25:43 ER checkpoint logid:6 logpos:0x10c785b4
15:25:43 DDR Log Snooping - Snooping started in log 6
15:25:58 RESYNC: Setting Replicate 32792 to Normal mode
15:25:58 CDR Grouper: Grouper evaluation blocked
15:25:58 CDR Grouper: Grouper evaluation unblocked
15:26:16 ER task ifx_sync_g_ncdcopsjson_tcp successfully completed

cdr check replicateset ifx_internal_set
15:26:26 SMX thread is exiting
15:30:56 Checkpoint Completed: duration was 0 seconds.

Remote log,
15:25:49 ER checkpoint logid:7 logpos:0xeec8018
15:25:49 DDR Log Snooping - Snooping started in log 7
15:25:53 CDR GC: synchronization complete
15:25:58 RESYNC: Setting Replicate 32792 to Normal mode
15:25:58 CDR Grouper: Grouper evaluation blocked
15:25:58 CDR Grouper: Grouper evaluation unblocked
15:26:23 SMX thread is exiting because it received a CLOSE message from a
remote server
15:31:12 Checkpoint Completed: duration was 0 seconds.

The log info told me success or some warning or errors ?

(3) About sqlhosts files

Apparently, it will do massive shuffled of your existing sqlhosts ( could
be modified in unexpected ways.... careful )
It only prefers a minimal or bare line of host definition ( exiting
defined working lines could be messed up)

I am also very curious, it could stripe the port service column, e.g,
from "online9171" to "9171" . The following is a example,

The modified sqlhosts files,
nsofopsjson onipcshm maggie-dat serviceopsjson
g_nsofopsjson_tcp group - - i=1
nsofopsjson_tcp onsoctcp maggie-dat online9171
g=g_nsofopsjson_tcp
g_ncdcopsjson_tcp group - - i=2
ncdcopsjson_tcp onsoctcp leslie-dat 9171
g=g_ncdcopsjson_tcp

The last line actually was ,
ncdcopsjson_tcp onsoctcp leslie-dat online9171
g=g_ncdcopsjson_tcp

(4) cdr list server outputs of local and remote node,

[informix@maggie etc]$ cdr list server
SERVER ID STATE STATUS QUEUE CONNECTION CHANGED
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
g_ncdcopsjson_tcp 2 Active Connected 0 Mar 20 15:25:52
g_nsofopsjson_tcp 1 Active Local 0

[informix@leslie etc]$ cdr list server
SERVER ID STATE STATUS QUEUE CONNECTION CHANGED

g_nsofopsjson_tcp 1 Active Connected 0 Mar 20 15:25:51

So, based on above overall info, the shard is created successful or not ?
