In Response To: Re: IWA vs Teradata (Carlton Doe)

Thanks, Art and Carlton.

Art, thanks for the offer to benchmark performance, but I may have given the
wrong impression. I worked with Informix in the late 1990's and then for
IBM Informix in the early 2000's, but due to declining market share I left
to pursue other interests. Now that IBM is putting some marketing muscle
behind Informix, I am considering reentering the Informix arena, but having
been burned once before with declining Informix demand, I am just checking
it out before I decide to jump in. It is one heck of a database, and I
loved working with it, but I need to assess the realities before I leap.

Cheers,
Harold

For what it's worth, in the presentations I use with customers / =
Roadshows on IWA, I include a number of *customer generated* benchmarks =
/ comparisons, one of which was done by a large retailer against =
Teradata.

=46rom them: Teradata query: 26 seconds With IWA: 1.8 =
seconds

Teradata #2: 36 seconds =
IWA: 4.05 seconds

Teradata #3: 1 minute 15 seconds IWA: =
17.3 seconds

Teradata #4: 6 minutes + =
IWA: 1.3 seconds

Yes, the customer did buy IWA! :)
