Little help please

Hi Folks,

I am fairly new to the Informix area and have downloaded the (I presume)
limited version ids9.4 from the IBM website. I have loaded both IDS9.4
and the ISA tool successfully and am able to connect both via the
browser to the database and also locally to the database instance. I am,
however, unable to use dbvisualiser to access my tables and data via the
network. I use dbvisualiser to access my windows version of IDS locally
on my notebook.

My sqlhosts file on the linux box looks like this

ifxinst01 ontlitcp aaudbasa01 informix
ifxinst01 onipcshm localhost informix

with aaudbasa01 being the host upon which I have installed informix. My
onconfig file is

[loganda@aaudbasa01 etc]$ cat onconfig.ifxinst01

I am trying to use the JDBC driver (latest version) that I have used to
connect to the windows version of informix but am receiving the
following error

java.sql.SQLException: com.informix.asf.IfxASFException: Attempt to
connect to database server (ifxinst01) failed.
com.informix.asf.IfxASFException: Attempt to connect to database server
(ifxinst01) failed.

I can't really find anything in the documentation that gives me a small
hint as to what I have done wrong. This error occurs no matter which
userid I use, I have tried informix, my own and root.

Thanks
