Hi,

probably you should first check the ON-Bar activity
log file (BAR_ACT_LOG parameter in $ONCONFIG file).
This should give some more information.

You say you did a "whole backup". I assume that you mean
a "whole system backup". Having done that you can do
"whole system restores", and again I assume that this is what
you did successfully.

[ Whole system backup and whole system restore are special
in that they work without logical log files being backed up.
For every other kind of restore to work, it is necessary to
backup the logical log files, because they need to be restored
during the recovery of the server, so that the logical log records
can be "replayed". Obviously, whole system restore can only
be performed with whole system backups. ]

If on your system you're not backing up logical log files
(for whatever reason, e.g. check that LTAPEDEV in $ONCONFIG
file isn't set to "/dev/null" and check that the logical log backup
actually happened in above mentioned ON-Bar activity log file),
then this is the reason that the PIT (Point In Time) restore
doesn't work, because for that you need to have logs backed up
(whether the PIT restore is done based on a whole system
restore or a regular, i.e. parallel restore).

This is my guess at why it's not working on your system.
If this is not the cause, then more information from the ON-Bar
activity log is needed to start with an analysis of the failure.

Starting to test onbar backups and restores. I have an issue that I hope
someone can point me in the right direction.
IDS 9.21.UC5
Sun 2.8
I can successfully do a whole backup and Cold restore. Everything seem to
be working fine. However, when I do a point in time recovery the instance
stays in full recovery indefinitely (Legato has completed the restore).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
