Hi,

in these circumstances I think the system is running
out of some resource. Check the NETTYPE setting again.
5 * 400 = 2000, I think, rather than 2500. Maybe it also
is a better idea to set the limit a bit lower for each thread
and instead have more threads. What about a setting
of 10 * 250 (would equal nearer to 2500, I think)?

What is this about the protocol being soctcp, using telnet
and/but shared memory? Something's incongruent here.

You use telnet to login to a machine on UNIX OS level for
a UNIX command prompt. This is not connecting to IDS.
Once you have done the above, you may be able to
connect to IDS locally (as you are already logged in on
the local UNIX machine on OS level). For that you can use
shared memory connection to IDS (instead of network
connection via TCP/IP).

Or you connect from a remote machine via network TCP/IP
directly to IDS - without doing a telnet first. This type of
connection does not use shared memory (after all you
are normally not to access shared memory from a remote
machine).

If you have " NETTYPE soctcp,5,400,NET ",
then this is a configuration for connections via network
(TCP/IP) to IDS, not via shared memory.

The dumb thing about the error message that you
receive is that you do not know from which protocol
(i.e. from which listener thread) it stems.
[ I've admonished this before. ]
Therefore, if you have different listener threads running
for different protocols, you may have to do a bit of trial-
and-(no)-error reconfigurations to test each type of
connection by its own. Then you will be able to see
which connection type has the problem. I think once
you know this, you will be able to resolve the problem
with all the other hints received meanwhile. :)

Xairetisma, :)

Hi
This is NOT a newly installed/configure system

Also this message
"listener-thread: err = -25587: oserr = 0: errstr = : Network receive
failed."

We receive it every 5 sec

Yes ... we have around 2500 user and they connect to IDS through "telnet"
but we are using shared memory

Hi,

is this a newly installed/configured system?
A possible reason for this may be that connectivity
to IDS is not configured correctly. Check the sqlhosts
file, supported protocols, etc.

Otherwise this could be from some unspecified connect
attempt to the IDS's listener thread. E.g. someone using
"telnet" to 'connect' to IDS's service/port. Since "telnet"
(or whatever it may be) does not speak the proper
protocol to connect to IDS, you would see some error like
this. (It could also be some port scanning software doing
such things ...)

Regards,
Martin
