Hi,

I was suggesting doing a quick test to prove 32-bit compatibility on your O/S as you were getting errors when trying to bring the instance up that was already on there. However, if the O/S is the same as live then can't see any problems in doing a restore, bring it online and change to 64-bit when ever your ready. I usually create a simple test instance before creating a whole environment as this can take a long time to build i.e. getting the necessary disk, fire-wall access to the live backup-server, etc.. and then find things weren't compatible.

Hello David,

No. I have installed the 32-bit Informix into a dedicated directory,
different than the directory were was installed the 64bit version.
I set my new environment to point to the 32bit installation. Under 32bit
environment, I rise the 'oninit -v' command and I'm expecting to bring
up the 32-bit instance using the 32bit Informix binaries.
I do not want to create a new database instance ( a new rootdbs ....). I
would like to access the database I had under 64bit instance only to be
sure that the 32Bit instance it is started well.

I will follow the Art's advice and I will came back here if I still have
problems.

Thank you All.

Best regards,
Elena
