RE: Logical Logs

In Response To: Logical Logs (CEDRIC CHIU)

A log flagged D was deleted and in order for it to be removed,
you just need to run a backup using ontape or onbar and they will go
away. The LOGSIZE and LOGFILES in the $ONCONFIG are only taken into
account when the instance is first initialized (oninit -i) afterwards
they are ignored.

The way to resize your logs is to use onparams to drop the logs
and recreate them with the new size, typically as shown below:

onparams -d -l 4 -y
onparams -d -l 5 -y
onparams -d -l 6 -y
ontape -s ( to delete to logs 1 to 6 after a Level 0 archive)
onparams -a -d <DBspace> 16384 (run it for 5 times) to create the new
logs
To drop logs 7 to 34 you may need to use onmode -l and onmode -c to be
able to delete them. Logs that contain the checkpoint record or current
logical logs cannot be deleted, thus you will need to use onmode -l or
onmode -c.
ontape -s (to delete to logs after a Level 0 archive)
Add the new logs with required size using
onparams -a -d <DBspace> 16384 (run it for 29 times)

Hope this clarifies the matter.

Hi All Gurus,

And would it possible to readjust LOGSIZE to smaller value say "16384"
from
any available IDS tool.
