Bob Roussey's comments aren't far off. Utils2_ak doesn't do EVERYTHING,
but it's highly useful and does have features for your needs. In
utils2_ak you'll find my dbcopy utility which can copy data from one
server to another very quickly and my ul.ec utility which will export a
table's contents (actually the result of any SQL SELECT) to a binary
file which is platform independent and reload the file onto another
server. But what I think Bob is thinking of is my dbexport/dbimport
replacement utility myexport which, while it requires my myschema
utility from utils2_ak, is actually a separate package. Myexport also
requires Jonathan Leffler's sqlcmd package and/or Ravi Krishna's
myonpload either of which can optionally be used to actually perform the
exports and imports. Myexport is fully compatible with dbexport and
dbimport but unlike dbexport myexport does not take a lock on the
database, so it can be used successfully in a cron script. Instead it
depends on exporting all tables in parallel to minimize relational
integrity constraint violations during import.

Yes, you can use HPLoader to port data from one platform to another.
The output format for the export files is configurable and a pipe
delimited file such as is used by dbexport/dbimport as well as dbaccess
and dbload is a default option. Myexport uses that feature to emulate
dbexport. Beyond that you can always write your own input and outpuu
translation modules for HPLoader and use whatever format you want.

Yes, you can also use archecker's restore feature to read the HPUX tape
and write data to tables on the Linux server. You'll probably have to
run archecker on the HP platform, but as long as that machine's sqlhosts
file knows about the Linux server instance it will be able to write the
rows to tables there.
